Finland’s Jolla, the company by ex-Nokia employees, and e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal today announced an exclusive partnership to launch the Jolla smartphone in India. The device, running on an independent operating system Sailfish, has been priced at Rs 16,499.

The Jolla smartphone features a button-less design, and the Sailfish OS for gesture-centric user experience. The main focus of Sailfish OS is on multi-tasking without the need to go in and out of apps. As is it is becoming general nowadays, there is also a spotlight on gestures for easy navigation and selection of content.

Swipe has launched a new budget smartphone, called the Sense, priced at Rs. 9,999.

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch qHD IPS display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS out-of-the-box and has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. Sharp on Tuesday launched the Aquos Crystal smartphone, which will be exclusively sold via Sprint in the US at $239.99.

The phone aims to bring Sharp’s TV technology to smartphones to give the same picture clarity and sharpness. There’s no apparent ear piece sitting on top of the screen. Even the front camera is oddly placed at the bottom of the screen. The rest of the phone is made of plastic and has a dimpled back cover.
