Apple press conference was a slew of new announcements, especially for the iPhone 6. Also, as it turns out, Apple’s smartwatch isn’t called the iWatch but is actually the Apple Watch.

Apple’s Watch is designed to be both fashionable and functional, available in an array of different color and materials with six different types of watch straps that are easily interchangeable. Prices for the device, which will be available in early 2015, start at $349.

The Cupertino company won’t start production of the Apple Watch until next month, where a targeted 10 million watches will be manufactured for the 2015 release.

Apple will unveil a smartwatch alongside the iPhone 6 on September 9, according to reports. The technology giant is expected to launch the iWatch at a “big” media event next month.

The wearable device could utilize the Home Kit function on Apple’s new iOS 8 operating system, potentially allowing users to control lights and garage doors wherever they are in the house. The iWatch is also expected to be compatible with Apple’s Health app, which collects a user’s fitness and well being data, such as heart rate, from multiple sources and brings it together on one prominent screen.

Though Apple has plans to introduce a wearable device in September, there is no word on when the device might ship. It is likely the device will be shown several months before it will be available to consumers.

Apple’s upcoming wearable device has been frequently referred to as the iWatch by both MacRumors and other rumor sites, but it remains unclear what Apple will call the device at launch. It is expected to be a wrist worn device, however, and rumors have suggested that it will come in multiple sizes with several different designs available at multiple price points.

Apple has poached a senior executive from Swiss luxury watch brand Tag Heuer, which could be to help it with the launch of its iWatch.

Apple is going to launch a new smartwatch. In order to make it in this competitive market the company will no doubt need someone who is able to sell it to the masses. Swiss watchmakers have drawn people’s attention towards their products for decades so much so that the country itself has become synonymous with high-quality watches.

Tag Heuer said -

“Patrick Pruniaux, who had been with the brand for seven years, was leaving on Monday to join Apple. It did not say what his new job would be.”

The iWatch will be the closest the U.S. company has come to selling a fashion accessory and marks its first foray into the personal luxury goods market. The report also says Apple has been trying to scoop up experts from Swiss watch companies to market its smartwatch as “Swiss made.”

Jean-Claude Biver, head of LVMH said -

“If it had been a direct competitor, I would have felt a bit betrayed, but if he goes to Apple I think it is a great experience for him. The iWatch will have the same status symbol power as many other Apple products, especially at the beginning. I personally believe it has the potential to be a threat for the industry, and it should not stay with its arms crossed.”

Speculation has been ascent that Apple was scheming to launch an iWatch that would embody mixed health and aptness sensors and entrance to facilities such as messages and notifications by formation with a iPhone and iPad.
