Amazon.com Inc is preparing to launch its long-rumoured smartphone in the second half of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people briefed on the company’s plans.
Specifications revealed are -
- 3D Displays without special glasses
- Retina Tracking technology
- Four Front facing cameras
Amazon is said to be aiming to announce its smartphone by the end of June, followed by a launch by the end of September. Details about the price of Amazon’s smartphone aren’t available at the moment.
Amazon phone will mark the second of Apple’s product categories the online retailer hopes to invade in 2014. With its Kindle Fire tablets, Amazon has been attempting to position itself to compete with the iPad for a few years.
Now let’s wait and see what Amazon’s smartphones can do. With the resources and global presence it has, Amazon could upset big players like Samsung and Apple with its own range of smartphones.
