HTC would be making premium Nexus tablet for Google, launch in Q3 2014
Earlier this year there were reports about Asus making the next Nexus tablet, but a recent report from DigiTimes claims that HTC would be making the next Nexus tablet that would launch sometime in Q3 2014. Earlier reports revealed that the tablet would be powered by an Intel Atom chip, but the latest report doesn’t confirm anything.
HTC will be building a Nexus tablet with Google. HTC has some mastery in designing hardware, and leaving the software to Google and stock Android would make the tablet potentially amazing. Plus, it is speculated that the tablet will be high-end in the specs department.
The rumoured Nexus 8 is slated for a release in the third quarter (July – September). This squares with a report last month that claimed Google would release an 8-inch tablet that would go into production in July or August.
According to the report Google will not be overly aggressive in pushing its third-generation of the Nexus tablet since the Nexus tablets have already severed its purpose in pushing Android’s penetration in the tablet market.
It wouldn’t be the first time Google and HTC have worked together on a device. The two previously teamed up for the first ever Google-branded Android phone, the Nexus One.
