Samsung revealed official prices for the wearable Gear 2 and Gear Fit devices
In an official announcement in Taiwan, Samsung provided pricing details for the Gear 2 and Gear Fit.
The Gear 2 will cost $295 (8,999 TWD) in Taiwan, while the Gear Fit will be cheaper: $197 (5,990 TWD). These prices are in line with the unofficial prices reported earlier this month: $300 / €300 for the Gear 2, and $200 / €200 for the Gear Fit.
The Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo will go on sale April 11, alongside the Galaxy S5 smartphone. Retailers and networks in the U.S. haven’t confirmed these prices, or announced any packages which include both the phone and a watch. Success is almost certain for the phone, but only time will tell if the new smartwatches fare any better than the last.
Samsung Gear 2 features a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, a 2-megapixel autofocus camera and sports a metal body. The Gear 2 comes is dust and water resistant (IP67 certified). Other features include accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, IrLED and Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
Samsung Gear Fit is smaller and lighter than the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, and is focused on health. It features a 1.84-inch Super AMOLED display with a 432 x 128 pixel resolution. The Gear Fit comes with a pedometer, heart rate monitor, and a sleep monitor.
