Google’s Nexus phones will be replaced by “Android Silver” phones to enhance user experience and quality
Google plans to replace the Nexus phones with a new program, “Android Silver.” Google was planning to launch its Silver program as a support service on selective smartphones. Recently, The Information reported the company will release a whole new series of high-end Silver phones from multiple manufacturers so that they get maximum features like waterproofing and voice recognition in their handsets. Also, Google will be working with handset vendors in offering devices at subsidized costs.
Android Silver does sound like a cross between the Nexus and Google Play Edition programs, allowing for a wider range of devices than the Nexus program, but with an extra level of input, involvement, and promotion from Google.
Silver program could launch next year in several countries, including the United States.
Google may include some extra services -
- “Never Lost” feature with which users track down lost handsets.
- “Hangout assistant” for live tech support via video chat.
- Easy data migration feature for users who are switching from another smartphone.
- Standardized and Consistent user-friendly experience across its android phones.
