Amazon announces June 18 event for new device unveiling, expected to be a 3D smartphone.
Amazon has revived speculation about its next major product, using a mysterious YouTube video and website post to tease a June 18 “launch event” in Seattle to be hosted by CEO Jeff Bezos.
The company has been working on a smartphone for some time, according to two sources briefed on its plans. But it’s unclear what the Internet retailer can offer consumers beyond what Apple Inc and Samsung already do.
Specifications of Amazon 3D Smartphone are -
- Display – 4.7-inch
- Resolution – 720 pixels
- RAM – 2GB
- Camera – 4 IR Cameras for 3D interface
- Processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon
Though Amazon has goals of releasing some of these devices in the coming months, these people cautioned that some or all of the devices could be shelved because of performance, financial or other concerns. Amazon Prime membership to be required to get the most out of the phone, much like with the Kindle Fire.
